FAQ on Fingerprint Locks

How does fingerprint lock work?
It's simple.
1. place your finger on the fingerprint reader;
2. the system will verify your fingerprint and unlock the lock
3. rotate the handle to open the door



Why is fingerprint lock more secure?
Fingerprint is our physiological characteristic. Everyone has unique, universal and permanent fingerprint. No one else has the same fingerprint as you, and you will never lose it, you "fingerprint key" cannot be duplicated. What is more, combining with our special technology Minutiae Based Fingerprint Algorithm, our fingerprint lock recognizes a fingerprint by breaking it into fine details. Hence we say our fingerprint locks are more secure, in the sense of recognizing the key that ONLY you have, and in great details.



Why is fingerprint lock more convenient?
Fingerprint is part of your body. You are carrying it along with you, naturally. You will never need to worry about forgetting bringing it or losing it. With our fingerprint lock, you will never need to rush home for your playful kids who are locked outside because they lose their keys.



How to use fingerprint locks?
It is simple. Whenever you are going to open the door from outside, you just put your finger on the lock (fingerprint sensor). Your finger now is your key. Whenever you are going to open the door from inside, you just turn the handle and open it, like what you are doing now in you home. Besides using the fingerprint to open the door, other unlocking ways of pass-codes, keys or magnetic tag are also available.



How to enroll and delete fingerprints?
No programming is required! You need to know the master password of the fingerprint lock to add, delete users. The master password can be modified once you have received your product. It's very simple. For registration, you just need to press "1" + "#" + master password and then place the finger on the scanner. For deletion, you just need to press "2" + "#" + master password + ID to be delete. It's as simple as ABC!



How many fingerprints can one person enroll in the lock?
All the 10 fingers, if you like. One lock can store up to 150 fingerprints so that it's more than enough to store all the fingers of all your family members.



What if cut my finger when I was cooking and now have a minor scar on the finger? Will your fingerprint lock still recognize this finger?
Yes. With our special technology Minutiae Based Fingerprint Algorithm, our fingerprint lock recognizes a fingerprint by breaking it into fine details. As long as the majority part of the fingerprint is ok, there will be no problem in recognizing. After all, you have enrolled all of your fingers. Even though one of your finger is injured, you still can use the rest 9 fingers to open the door.



What are the unlocking ways?
You can unlock with fingerprint or pass-code or key or magnetic tag (magnetic tag is available for Model e6092 only). It's very flexible. And you don't need to change any settings, either.



Some of the locks are with single latches. Can criminal use a screwdriver to force it open from outside as the single latch is controlled by a spring?
No true. The special mechanic design make the latch a dead latch when it is locked. There's no way to use screwdriver or whatsoever to force the latch to open.



How long time will your fingerprint lock take to verify a fingerprint?
Less than 1 second.



How accurate is your fingerprint recognition?
Theoretical, the false acceptance rate FAR (i.e. the possibility that an un-registered person place his finger on the sensor and the lock open) of any fingerprint products is around 1/1,000,000. Comparing with the chance of winning the first price of 4D (chance is 1/10,000), it is 100 times lower. In practical application, it never happened.



If I want to use password, how long should the code be?
It must be 8 digits.



I am going to hold a party at my home, but it is not practical to enroll my friends' fingerprints or give them keys. So can I set the fingerprint lock in the unlock mode, so that my friends can go in and out freely?
Yes, you can. You will only need to key in your master pass-codes, followed by some simple steps to do that.



My maid is no longer working for us any more, can I delete her fingerprint? How to do that?
Yes, you can delete any user of the fingerprint lock. See here for more.



What is the life span of your fingerprint locks?
All the mechanic parts are made of stainless steel and the fingerprint scanner is a piece of special thick glass. Under normal usage, the lock could last for 10 years or longer.



Is the installation easy? Can I DIY?
Sure! The installation is absolutely easy. We have prepared the installation guide for you, you can DIY according to it. Or you can find some lock smith in your area. They can help you to install it for $50-100.



What are the colors available?
Silver only.



What power do your fingerprint locks use? How long can it last?
Our fingerprint locks uses 4 normal AA batteries. Generally the battery can be used for 6 months to 1 year, depends on the usage and the batteries themselves.



How to tell that the batteries power is low?
If you hear a "bi--bi--bi--bi" sound. It means that the power is low and you need to replace with new ones.



Where is your fingerprint lock made?
It's from Hong Kong. These locks are very reliable. The manufacturer has been making locks for 15 years. One of its series (to be more specific, 500 over locks) is currently used in Furama Hotel (RiverFront).



Has your fingerprint locks installed in any places in Singapore? How is the reliability?
500 over smartcard locks of the same brand are being used by the entire Hotel Furama RiverFront Singapore. The locks have been using for over 1 year and there is no problem at all.



Will your fingerprint locks become rusty easily?
No. Our fingerprint locks are all made in pure stainless steel and plated.



Will my fingerprints lost if the batteries power is drained out?
No. The fingerprints will not be lost even if the power is cut off. They are stored permanently unless you delete them.
